What is the going rate per square foot to build a new home?

The cost per square foot varies widely depending on land conditions, utility access, the overall design, and the size of the home. In our market, we’re seeing new‑build pricing starting around $400 per square foot and increasing from there based on complexity, finishes, and site requirements.

Is landscaping included in the price of a new construction home?

Typically, no. New‑construction pricing usually covers the home itself, utilities, but landscaping is almost always a separate cost. Most neighborhoods and jurisdictions require at least front‑yard landscaping to receive a final inspection approval or certificate of occupancy, so it’s important to plan for that as an additional line item outside the base construction price.

How long does the new‑construction process take?

For a new home, you can expect the full process to happen in two major phases. Pre‑Construction typically lasts 6 months to 1 year, depending on design complexity, engineering, permitting, and how quickly selections are finalized. Once construction begins, most homes take 9 months or more to build, with larger or more complex designs extending that timeline. This approach ensures everything is fully planned before we break ground, which leads to a smoother, more predictable build.
